Lopez Handcuffs Christians, Hammers Seize 2-1 Advantage

The Hamilton Hammers went into extra innings against the Christchurch Christians but ultimately moved to within one game of the Oceanic Cup today. The Hammers downed the Christians at Plano Fields by a score of 8-2. Hamilton right-hander Fernando Lopez was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball. The win gives the Hammers a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 BOL League Championships.

Lopez was effective against the Christians, seldom allowing a hard-hit ball. The right-hander limited Christchurch to just 2 runs on 4 hits over 9.1 innings.

“I had pretty good command out there,” said Lopez.

The next game is set to be played on Friday, December 23rd, 2016 at Plano Fields. The scheduled starters for the game are Etsuji Komatsu for Hamilton and Inaki-Luki Aulii for Christchurch.

Hamilton Hammers take game 3 into 15-inning marathon, advancing in the Round 2 series 2-1 over Christchurch.
