The Jacksonville Ravens and their fans were rocked today by the news that star first baseman Barry “Hulk” Janmaat would miss the rest of the season due to injury. Janmaat was hurt in a recent game against the Seattle Salts while running the bases. He was immediately removed from the game and taken for examination. Tests today revealed the injury was a ruptured medial collateral ligament. His doctors think that Janmaat will miss about 10 months.
This season the 38-year-old Janmaat is batting .278 with 20 hits, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs, .325 OBP and has scored 11 runs.
The star veteran, who is a five-time All-Star, was signed in December after he left the Boston Brawlers for free agency. Janmaat has been highly touted as a possible future Hall of Famer, with over 1,600 career hits, and four career grand slams.
