Inferno Sweep Aside Ravens

The AEL Championship Series wrapped up in short order, with the Calgary Inferno sweeping the Jacksonville Ravens, 3-0.

3B Israel Medina won series MVP

Earning Series MVP honors was Israel Medina, the third baseman for Calgary, who batted .455 against JAX, bashing 5 homers, batting in 7 and scoring 5 times.

Medina rang up big numbers in the third and final game of the series, which Calgary won 13-7. In that game, he went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, two walks, and 3 RBIs, rocking Ravens ace, multiple All-Star lefty Angelo Rodriguez who ended the playoffs with a 3.48 ERA, and was 0-1 with a 15.43 ERA against Calgary.

With the win, Calgary advances to their third straight Bull Cup Championship Series. In 2015, they won the series over the Hamilton Crusaders (now Rimouski Fighting Moose). The following year saw the Inferno fall to the Ohio Oxen.

Calgary now waits to find out whether they will face Rimouski Fighting Moose, or the Montreal Metros, who are currently tied 2-2 in the Lake League Championship Series.
