Mike ‘Dinosaur’ Lapi, who was only inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier this year, is celebrating his 47th birthday today.
The 11-time All-Star and four-time MVP was inducted into the hall as a member of the Chicoutimi Cinquantes, but also played for Kingston, Toronto, Hamilton, Richmond, California, Ohio and New York.
He retired from baseball in 2012, and by then had amassed 1,273 hits in 4,023 at bats, for a career batting average of .316. His career bests came in his last year with the Cinquantes, in 2004, when he batted .373 and had 79 RBIs, along with a 6.2 WAR.
Lapi is said to be celebrating his birthday quietly with his family at their home in Brooklyn, NY.
