(GAME DATE — August 1, 2020) — Jorge Garzes mauled enemy pitching all month long as he cruised to the Metropolitan League Batter of the Month title. The 28-year-old second baseman batted .366 with 10 home runs, 27 RBIs and 27 runs scored in a July performance that has Seattle fans eagerly awaiting what he can do in August.
Garzes capped off July with a Grand Slam against the Arizona Cowboys on the 29th. So far this year he is hitting .310 with 122 hits, 29 home runs, 78 RBIs and has scored 75 runs.
Garzes, a switch-hitter from Venezuela, was named to his second all-star game last month. It has take a while for the former #2 prospect (2013) in the league to gather steam and get noticed, but he seems intent to leave his mark on the league now as a respected veteran who is under contract with the Salts until 2024.
Salts fans certainly hope there are many more awards in his future, maybe even a Bull Cup.
