Extended Regular Season Ends

The 2016 Regular Season of the Bull League was unexpected extended, and has finally come to an end today.

The season had been scheduled to end on September 4, but one earlier scheduled game had to be made up between Boston Brawlers and Montreal Metros, which went ahead the following day.  The Lake League playoff seeds had already been decided, but both teams still required their 82nd game to be played.

However, over in the American Eagle League, the final wildcard was still in question, with three teams tied with a record of 42-40: Calgary Inferno, Nevada Speeders and the Seattle Salts.  The two teams with the highest run differential, Calgary and Seattle, faced off yesterday for the fourth spot while Nevada was let out of the running.

The Inferno defeated the Salts in a nail-biting 4-3 extra-innings effort, which finally ended in the bottom of the 13th when catcher Dao-zi Ling hit a walk-off game-winning double scoring Danny Huertero from second base.

The 2016 Playoffs get underway tomorrow with two AEL games, Calgary squaring off against Denver Highlanders and Jacksonville Ravens facing off against San Diego Seagulls.
