The Denver Danger have signed 18-year-old left-hander Jorge Ulloa, a Venezuelan amateur free agent, to a minor league contract, giving him a signing bonus of $1.56 million.
The 5’10”, 165-lb teenager is thought to have some great potential to turn into a finesse pitcher, and has a keen ability to hold runners on bases.
However, it’s still too early to tell whether he will eventually break into the big leagues, although clearly Denver is willing to invest in him early on.
Ulloa is expected to report to the club’s international developmental camp and will have to wait and see whether he gets bumped up to a rostered minor league team. The Danger’s Florida Rookie League club is looking at a potential playoff spot as the FRL’s schedule comes to a close in the next few days.
