Everglades University has taken their baseball program seriously, in the inaugural Can-Am College baseball season, and to demonstrate their commitment they have hired Cody Olsen as the manager of the Swampmen, the men’s baseball team.
Olsen has had an illustrious managerial career in the Bull League, and was last posted to the New York Minutemen before being removed to make way for GM & Manager Alex Sanderson. In 16 seasons with the Minutemen, Olsen was twice named Manager of the Year, and the team took home two Bull Cups. In all, the Minutemen had nine playoff appearances.
Olsen had successful years with San Diego and Montreal prior to his lengthy run in New York, and has amassed a career win-loss record of 964-807 (.544) as a manager.
He is said to be a manager that favors power hitting, and who uses his players speed aggressively on the basepaths.
EVU is rumored to be paying the veteran manager a $678,000 salary on a one-year deal.
The Can-Am baseball season opens February 20.
