There will be big changes in the Lake League come opening day, including two teams relocating and swapping divisions, as part of a major realignment.
The Chicoutimi Cinquantes will officially fold and re-open in the Lake League West Division under new ownership, though it will retain all of its existing players and contracts. The team will become the Detroit Motorheads.Meanwhile, the Hamilton Crusaders will move to the Lake League East Division, relocating to Rimouski, Quebec in the process. The new team name will be the Rimouski Fighting Moose. An official announcement from Hamilton and Chicoutimi is expected shortly.
Finally, the New York Minutemen will be retiring their name once again, and become the New York Dragons. This will likely mean the New York team retains its title as the team that has the most name changes since it was created in 1989. The league approved this change earlier this month, with the logos and redesigned uniforms expected before opening day.
