The St. Petersburg Admirals continue their hot streak in the AEL’s East Division, capping the first week of June on a 4 game winning streak. They beat state rivals, the Miami Storm, 3-1 on Thursday to avoid being swept, then started a weekend home series against the California Tidals on Friday, opening with a 6-0, 3-hit shutout win, courtesy of RHP Harry Ferguson, who improves to 3-2 on the year.
The Admirals then won the Saturday and Sunday games handily, outscoring the Tidals 13-5. The series wraps up tonight before the Admirals go on the road to face Denver, who have been benefiting from Roberto Lozano’s solid start to June. The Danger third baseman is currently on a 3-game home run streak.
Veteran Rimouski third baseman Alan Isimo was named the Lake League’s player of the week after collecting four dingers and 8 RBIs, while batting .375. Over in the AEL, it was 2-time Bull Cup champ Cody Martin, the Calgary third baseman, who earned the player of the week honors. “Crime Spree” Martin went 8-for-21 with four homers and 6 RBIs.
