Boston Brawlers stalwart Bruce Aberto, the 26-year-old center fielder and two-time Gold Crown Award winner, will be out of action for about six weeks resting a strained oblique, it was learned today.
Just four games into the season, Aberto felt a “twinge” in his side during a game in Chicago yesterday. He was pulled out of the game but since then learned of the extent of his injury.
Brawlers front office had no comments on the $18-million a year slugger’s injury, but immediately called up 25-year-old Christian Hoskin from Triple-A Halifax, just days before the minor league opening day.
Hoskin, a switch-hitting 2015 3rd round draft pick, has been rocketing up through the Boston organization since starting at Corpus Christi in 2015.
