Rimouski’s veteran Japanese slugger Zenjiro Suga has achieved his 1,000th hit today, collecting it in a 2-for-4 effort against the Battle Creek Attack.
After hitting a solo homer in the 5th inning to tie the game, Suga was up to bat again facing off against veteran Niek Rodriguez in the 7th inning. Suga hit a two-out single on a line drive over the shortstop, but then was later stranded at third.
Rimouski would eventually prevail in an 8-4 win, and teammate Hugo Gonzales would have a memorable finish as he tied a club record with 5 hits, going 5-for-6 and scoring twice while driving in 3 runs.
Suga is currently #32 on the all-time career hits leaderboard, behind Jason Hovis (1,004).
