Young Star Helps Propel Lake League to Win in Midseason Classic

(GAME DATE — July 9, 2020) — All-Star Detroit Motorheads’ first baseman Payton Bint had a night to remember.

Not only did he take the field with the game’s best players, he was also a huge factor in the 7-5 Lake League victory over the Metropolitan League All-Stars. He was named All-Star MVP for 2020.

Payton Bint, who won the LL ROTY last year, was named All-Star MVP in his first time appearing in the Midsummer Classic.

“We had a meeting before the game, and I was struck by the talent in the room. Old stars, young stars, it’s a game I’ll never forget,” Bint said after the game. “I talked to a few of my old friends from Chatham-Kent, Canada before the game, and they told me to go out and win the game for them. I’m sure they’ll enjoy seeing the trophy back home,” he added.

Bint is hitting .306 lifetime with 261 hits, 21 doubles, 2 triples, 67 home runs and 185 RBIs to date. He has scored 130 runs, walked 87 times and has a .372 OBP. He won the LL Rookie of the Year award last season, and made his first career All-Star appearance this year.

The game was broadcast live on the league Twitch channel, and the replay is available here:
