Pitchers who faced the Hamilton Crusaders last week were happy to see Masamune Yamada in the rear view mirror. The 27-year-old left fielder was dubbed the Lake League Player of the Week for a 7-game tear that saw him hit at a .407 clip.
For the week he also chalked up 11 hits in 27 at-bats, 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 6 runs scored, including two back-to-back 4-for-4 efforts against Chicago, coming last Wednesday and Thursday. Though the Crusaders took losses in those games, Yamada showed his dangerous power, getting a triple, homer, 3 RBIs and 2 runs in those two games.
Yamada is currently batting .286 with 13 home runs, 37 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 71 hits in 248 at-bats.
