It was high-fives all around for Alex Viramontes at Tidals Ballpark today.
He got them from his teammates and he got them at the plate during an outstanding hitting performance against the California Tidals. Viramontes smashed 5 hits in 7 at-bats on his monster day, leading his club to a 10-7 win.
“Alex was hitting everything,” said Seagulls manager Joe Bauman. “It really was a special game for him.”
In the opposing dugout, Tidals manager Steve O’Neil told BNN beat writers that Viramontes “ambushed” the club.
“Obviously we didn’t have much success against him, but we’ll have another chance,” he said. “Hopefully, Viramontes oversleeps next time.”
Alex Viramontes hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Kyle Cahill in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off him again in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, doubled in the 10th, flied out in the 12th and singled in the 14th.
Viramontes currently has a .365 batting average with 111 hits, 16 homers, 58 RBIs, 58 runs scored and a .453 OBP.
