The math now works in the favor of the Montreal Metros – they have guaranteed themselves a spot in this year’s postseason.
“It’s a real team accomplishment. It took our whole roster to get here,” said closer Joe Niceley.
The team currently has a 51-17 record and will be trying to now capture the Lake League East Division crown. With 14 games left, and sitting 10 games ahead of the Boston Brawlers, the Metros have little chance of being dislodged from their perch atop the division.
The Metros are on a 7-game winning streak, after sweeping New York and Toronto, and then getting their playoff-clinching win yesterday against Battle Creek.
