Martel Spins No-Hitter

In a dominant outing, Judson Martel of the Montreal Metros totally silenced the bats of the Battle Creek Attack, finishing with a no-hitter, the first of his career.

In the Metros’ 1-0 victory, Martel faced only 28 batters, surrendered no hits, had 15 strikeouts and was just 1 walk away from a “perfect game.”

“Honestly, I didn’t even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning” Montreal manager Jeremy Harris said. “I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten and I happened to notice that they hadn’t gotten any.”

Commenting on the defeat, losing manager William Shea told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a “pretty simple” analysis of the game.

“The Metros had all the hits and all the runs, so they won,” he snapped. “But yeah, Martel pitched a heck of a ballgame.”

On his stats sheet for the year Martel shows a 4-0 record, 5 starts, 42 innings, 57 strikeouts and a 1.50 ERA.
