Victor Sarmiento is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Lake League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn’t been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he’s putting up veteran-like numbers.
In July the Toronto hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .381 average with 24 hits, 6 home runs and 14 RBIs.
Thus far this season in 41 games Sarmiento is batting .319 with 10 home runs, 29 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 51 hits in 160 at-bats.
