Ohio catcher Tyrone O’Saurus pounded Calgary Inferno pitchers at Oxen Ballpark, but it was not enough to keep the Oxen from falling, 10-3 in Game 1 of the Bull Cup. O’Saurus went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Oxen slip to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-5 series.
Had Logans Run not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Run hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Inferno.
Oxen manager Dylan Maccarone did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference “if and when we win the Bull Cup.”
The next game is scheduled for Sunday, September 25th, 2016 at Oxen Ballpark. Slated to start are Ronald Baldwin for Calgary and Frasor Clause for Ohio.
