Billy Leyva said he expected the Elimination Round to be “a battle from start to finish.”
In the end, it was nothing more than a minor skirmish, as the Calgary Inferno encountered little resistance in sweeping the league leader Denver Highlanders, to advance to the Championship Series.
“It may have been a sweep, but it still was a tough series,” said Leyva.
Calgary won the final game by a 7-6 count and were led in the series by Leyva, who was named MVP. On the series, he hit .750 with 1 home runs. He also drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.
As the first team to reach the next round, the Inferno don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Jacksonville Ravens – San Diego Seagulls series. San Diego leads the series 2 game to 1. The Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Elimination Round finishes.
