Christians Advance to BOL League Championships

The party is on for Christchurch Christians fans, while disappointment reigns for those fans in Dunedin.

The Christians eliminated the Dunedin Ducks in the BOL Wildcard Series at Power Ballpark today and will now move on to the BOL League Championships.

“It’s a big letdown and not what we want to be feeling,” said Dunedin manager Chris Clements after the loss.

Christchurch won the final game by a score of 7-4 and took the series 3-1.

“We want to bring a championship home to our city, that’s all there is to it. Everyone wants it badly for themselves, but we want it for Christchurch too,” said Bob Sandoval, whose strong pitching performances during the series earned him MVP honors.

Sandoval had an impressive 0.00 ERA, allowing no earned runs over 8.1 innings during the BOL Wildcard Series. He added 6 strikeouts with a 1-0 record.

The Christchurch Christians will play against the Hamilton Hammers in the next round. Hamilton had a bye in the BOL Wildcard Series. The BOL League Championships schedule will be announced after the BOL Wildcard Series finishes.
