Baldwin Befuddles Arizona

Today was Ronald Baldwin’s turn in the rotation for the Calgary Inferno (34-27) and he made the most of it, shutting out the Arizona Cowboys (28-33) on 1 hit.

The 35-year-old right-hander led the Inferno to an easy 6-0 victory, allowing 2 walks and tallying 2 strikeouts.

“I hope we miss him next time,” Arizona manager Tom Bachleitner said. “Baldwin certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds.”

This season-to-date, Baldwin has fashioned a 4-4 mark and 4.59 ERA in 86.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .306 against him and he has logged 78 strikeouts.

Baldwin last threw a one-hitter against the California Tidals on August 27, 2007.
