Jesse Nelson, known affectionately as “the old man” by the younger players in the Seattle Salts clubhouse, showed his teammates how to do it last week — and in the process the 38-year-old vet beat out all competition for the American Eagle League Player of the Week Award.
He put up a .526 batting average, 10 hits in 19 at-bats, 4 home runs and 11 RBIs. Nelson also scored 8 runs.
So far this year Nelson is batting .281 with 16 home runs, 52 RBIs and 44 runs scored.
