The Lake League has announced their July player awards, and the Rimouski Fighting Moose have come out strong, with Nick Seer (pictured) taking both the Rookie of the Month and Pitcher of the Month nods, and veteran shortstop Joe Street completing the team’s sweep of the month’s awards by getting the Batter of the Month Award.
The 36-year-old Street had a stellar month, going .304 with 5 of his season’s 8 homers coming in July. Street, who was an MVP back in 2007, is in the final year of his contract with Rimouski, has a career .254 average and is closing in on 250 career home runs — he’s just 3 short as of today.
Street last homered on the 30th against Ohio, a game in which he was named Player of the Game, going 2-for-4 in the 6-4 win over the Oxen.
Meanwhile, right-hander Seer was excellent in July, going 5-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 1.01 WHIP, taking down 44 batters in 46.2 innings. He registered all six of his starts as quality starts through the month. Seer was acquired in the first week of the season in a trade from Arizona, where he managed a pair of starts, both losses.
